August 2024, WELL Health Volunteers proudly took part in the annual Back to School Blast, hosted by the CityReach Care Society. Alongside other dedicated volunteers, they distributed 1,000 backpacks filled with essential school supplies to families facing financial challenges as they prepared for the new school year.
Back to School Blast: Empowering Families and Communities
The Back to School Blast was an annual event organized by the CityReach Care Society, aimed at alleviating the financial stress many families experienced when preparing their children for the return to school. Volunteers at the event played a crucial role in packing and distributing backpacks filled with necessary supplies for children in need.
Each backpack at the Back to School Blast was thoughtfully filled with notepads, pencils, pencil crayons, a reusable water bottle, and other essential school supplies. These backpacks were more than just practical gifts; they symbolized hope and relief for parents who might have struggled to afford them.
Beyond the distribution of backpacks, the event also served as a vibrant community gathering. Open to all, the summer event featured a range of activities, including airbrush tattoos, a dunk tank, a bouncy castle, a BBQ, free haircuts, and opportunities for families to explore first responder vehicles from the police, fire department, and St. John’s Ambulance.
WELL Volunteers
Our incredible WELL Health volunteers packed over 166 backpacks for both elementary and secondary school students, in addition to assisting with their distribution. Volunteers also contributed in various capacities, including greeting attendees, managing lines, and assisting with parking, all while enjoying the event’s entertainment offerings. Most importantly, they had the privilege of supporting those in need and giving back to the community in a meaningful way.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our outstanding WELL Volunteers, including Tata Simon, Romita Roy, Virginia Tran, Carolina Fernandez, Tiffany Menjivar, Lynsey Diaz, Eva Fong and her family, and many others, for dedicating their valuable time to this impactful cause. We are incredibly proud of your efforts!
